The Italian banking industry, reforms and markets: a long-term view

Within a banking sector which shows solid economic fundamentals, especially if compared with those of other countries, there are few critical elements. These can be addressed, with benefits for the entire economy, through market solutions, especially if guided by a cooperative approach. In this scenario, the role of the public sector should be precautionary: the Italian government is working to make available adequate instruments if they are required.
