Stefano Siglienti was an important banker in Italy’s reconstruction era and in the years of strong growth that followed. In Siglienti the practical dimension of acting was innervated by the systematic analysis of economic processes, by the identification of objectives that combined income growth and principles of equity. During the 25 years when he was President of Imi and ABI, he gave shape to an idea of banking stemmed from a broad vision of the Italian economy and society. Siglienti was part of the ruling class that, after the war, brought Italy back to the world by anchoring it firmly to the Euro-Atlantic axis. His being part of the community of bankers of the reconstruction phase set his objectives: development, stability, efficiency.
