The first two-year mandate of the Platform on Sustainable Finance (Psf), the working group established by the Eu Regulation on the Taxonomy of sustainable activities, was completed at the end of 2022. In view of the second mandate, it is appropriate to take stock of the development of the taxonomy and the regulatory framework aimed at implementing the 2018 Action Plan for financing sustainable growth. In particular, the Psf has formulated: i) proposals on the technical screening criteria (Tsc) needed to evaluate the environmental performance of economic activities, and on the way in which the implementation of minimum safeguards could be verified; ii) recommendations on the possible extension of the scope of application of the taxonomy; iii) analysis on the usability of Tsc and sustainability reporting. The Commission has recently defined the tasks awaiting the working group in the coming two years: the focus should be on the development and review of the technical screening criteria and on usability aspects of both the Tsc and the regulatory framework for sustainable finance.
