Tied agent in Europe and «promotore finanziario» in Italy: a comparative perspective and recent regulatory developments (Crd 4 and MiFid 2)

Recent developments in EU legislation represent an opportunity for a comparative analysis of the role and activities of tied agents across different Member States. The distinctiveness of the Italian model comes to light with regard to all options established by MiFid provisions on tied agents. With respect to this evidence, it is therefore necessary to assess the potential impact of the new EU provisions. From this viewpoint, the most critical issues refer to the introduction of the notion of advice on an independent basis and to some provisions concerning remuneration structure
