Corporate venture capital, investment types and key benefits

One of the most widespread tools to stimulate business innovation is represented by Corporate venture capital. It consists in the investment activity carried out by established companies (sponsors) in the equity of small and mediumsized unlisted enterprises (investee), with high innovative and growth potential, during the initial stage of their life cycle. The purpose of this article is to illustrate the different configurations assumed by Cvc investments, highlighting their specific features and describing the benefits that can derive to the participating entities. An overview of the Cvc market is also provided, both worldwide and at European level focusing on Italy.
