Operational risks new standard: is the simpler approach too simple?

The Basel Committee has recently introduced a revision to the methodologies for measuring operational risk capital. The revised standardised approach has replaced the current non-model-based approaches, which comprise the Basic Indicator Approach (BIA) and the Standardised Approach (TSA), including the Alternative Standardised Approach (ASA). The new approach is able to address weaknesses identified in the existing methodologies, but it presents some limits deriving from the lack of qualitative/organizational standards
