Italian banks offer fundamental support to households and businesses, as demonstrated also in recent years and during the pandemic crisis. That is why they need a coherent regulatory framework at both national and European level. Among the many points are the regulation on non-performing loans, the reintroduction of credit guarantees in a longer timeframe, a broad intervention on the European architecture for managing banking crises and coherent changes on State aids. It is essential to direct taxation towards economic growth, encouraging investment in the real economy, with lower taxation for medium- and long-term savings than for short-term speculative operations.
