The book on Luigi Arcuti’s writings aims to shed light on the vigorous personality, financial opinions and business strategies of the banker from Turin. The curators delved into a wide variety of documents and took advantage of the testimonies of many leading figures who knew him well. The material selected for publication demonstrates, beyond any doubt, that this multifaceted self-made banker has made an important and timely contribution to the modernization of the Italian financial system. In particular, by supporting the universal banking model, developing asset management, insurance and capital markets, and suggesting as early as in 1979 an innovative scheme to privatize public banks which was adopted many years later by the Amato law.
