A spring wind is awakening interest in credit to the agricoltural sector: it is the life-giving breath of Esg-driven sustainability. Agricultural financing nourishes both body and spirit and therefore intercepts both the environmental and social perspectives. The following reflections, which summarize the speech given at the presentation of the Fondazione Ravà Research Paper dedicated to the topic, analyze three perspectives: the strategic dimension within which banks should revitalize agricultural financing, the management dimension referring to a combined inside-out and outside-in approach, and the operational dimension leading to the choice of credit products dedicated to agricultural businesses and their pricing. The proposed vision follows a holistic dimension – thus not merely riskbased – offering banks the opportunity to recall their original function in the service of the economy of wellbeing where the agricultural sector is an undisputed protagonist.
