The social economy and the third sector represent a pillar of Italian society and of the European and national economic model. The analysis shows important development opportunities in the relationship between financial intermediaries and the third sector. In the period 2019-2025, the need for greater financial inclusion of the social economy is highlighted, also due to an offer of products and services that is not always adequate, regulatory facilities that are not fully accessible, credit metrics that do not always consider the peculiarities of non-profit institutions. Today in Italy the social economy represents a crucial sector, stimulating banks to activate credit initiatives, financial and assistance tools dedicated to the sector, as well as services aimed specifically at volunteers and associates.
