Public and media don't love banks, not only in Italy. This feeling was recently stressed by the closing of a great number of branches and the growth of profits due to the increase of net interest margins. Besides someone recalled the pressure to respect sales budgets which can stress front officers. This article tries to explain that the behavior of banks is based on principles of good management and that the problem of stressing budgets may be solved by elaborating plans beginning not only from the potential sales to clients and prospects, but also from the resources of the bank. It is also necessary to create more integration between the marketing approach and the culture of the whole bank.
