Customer profiling for suitability assessment. A follow up survey of Italian intermediaries

A recent study by Consob on a sample of Italian intermediaries has highlighted the presence of tools for detecting customers' characteristics of higher quality than what emerged from the previous survey of 2012, also due to the supervisory action carried out by the Authorities and the progressive refinement of the European regulatory framework. In particular, the level of completeness and clarity of the contents and terms used has increased and, with reference to the algorithms and metrics adopted by intermediaries for the determination of customer profiles, limited elements of attention have been found. There are still some areas of improvement at individual intermediaries.
