The 2019 Nobel Prize has been awarded to 3 scholars – Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo e Michael Kremer – for their studies on fighting global poverty.Their research has in common a careful field work addressed to investigate focused and limited interventions which can produce a tangible outcome, in addition to assessing their effectiveness in a systematic and rigorous manner. This article, which represents another part of a much broader analysis, explains and describes the 2019 Nobel Prize Laureates and their research activities, trying to understand whether after half a century something has changed in relation to the academic mainstream.
