After the crisis, the asset management industry has become one the most dynamic component of financial intermediation. Evolution in the Euro Area, Uk and Us emerges from the comparison between asset management and insurance activities on one hand and banking activities on the other, as well as from the household portfolio choices’ analysis. In particular, banks are more involved in areas of less capital-intensive intermediation and which are able to better use their distribution capacity.
