The paper describes the results of a pioneering neurofinance study conducted using functional magnetic resonance imaging to analyze the neural mechanisms of 20 professional traders while they traded in real time on the financial market, using their own resources. The investigation revealed the activation of specific brain areas and the involvement of specialized circuits. Additionally, it was observed that the behavioral profiles of traders, Spock- or Kirk- style, represent a crucial variable in modulating neural activity, along with age, experience, transaction value, and decision latency. These findings highlight the neurobiological foundations of emotions in trading and open new interdisciplinary perspectives for better understanding the behavior of agents in financial markets.
