Italian commercial papers: a new funding channel for banks and an opportunity for institutional investors

The European market for commercial papers is already active and an Italian environment already exists to welcome and stimulate the development of this product, which can enrich the portfolio of funding instruments available to Italian banks. If the markets and infrastructure are ready to accept commercial papers and Italian banks begin to experiment with them, the weakness appears to be the shortage of domestic investors to date, unlike, for example, the French market, populated by Monetary Funds and specialized Alternative Funds.
