Maurizio Sella has been an important personality of contemporary Italian capitalism: deeply rooted in tradition, but capable of innovating; attentive to the historical dimension, but oriented towards the future. The bank, for Sella, was both a historical institution and an organism in the making. Understanding banks' past meant making it more solid in the present and more ready to face the future.
