The latest inflation trends in the euro area are reassuring, but the risks should not be underestimated. Monetary policy will continue to do whatever it takes to ensure price stability over the medium term. However, caution should be exercised and undesirable effects on economic activity and financial stability should be avoided. Thanks to the strengthening achieved over the past decade, the Italian banking industry is in overall satisfactory shape, although the outlook remains uncertain. It is important, therefore, that policies for setting aside and distributing profits are prudent. Efforts must also be maintained to address the challenges posed by the dual transition, technological and green, both in terms of resource allocation and risk control.
