Since the late 1980s Italy underwent a difficult and insidious transformation, that affected the economy, manufacturing and labour, posing a threat to the collective well-being. The epicentre lied in the financial sector: banks were at the crossroad of tensions, innovations and opportunities, but also where the winds of crisis blew fiercely. Barucci knew how to operate in that problematic context, fully aware of the challenges in the various aspects of his professional life (academic, managerial, institutional), never divorced from his human and cultural qualities.
