Raghuram Rajan, an innovative scholar, balanced and conscious policy maker, and citizen of the world, has been awarded the Bancor Prize for 2024. The thought and action of one of the most influential world economists have touched the crucial issues of economic development, financial intermediaries and corporate finance, highlighting littlestudied phenomena, the microeconomic foundations of the credit market, the role of information asymmetries in the relations between banks and companies. In his work there are not only States and markets, but also communities, the «third pillar», and the awareness that global challenges, first and foremost climate change, cannot be tackled without globally coordinated policies.
