

Can sport be used as an effective metaphor to draw attention to the importance of Economic and Financial Education? The similarities between the two areas are numerous and it is possible to exploit them to highlight the relevance of the issue at the policy level and its possible applications, using sport as a privileged tool of analysis. Italy shows a lower level of Financial Literacy than many other countries, according to international surveys. Young people and persons with lower incomes suffer the most from this deficiency. Since in the life of a professional sportsman in a few years of career a high flow of financial resources is concentrated, followed by a long phase of stagnation, this peculiarity makes the case of athletes an ideal field of analysis to highlight the importance of Economic-Financial Education.
