Banking systems in Eastern Europe (Cee and See) are gradually aligning with models adopted in Western European countries. Despite the effects of the 2008 crisis, some key objectives have been reached notwithstanding some slowdown in the recovery of the portfolio quality. A new support to Eastern European countries looks necessary, however, not only in financial terms, but to avoid a renewed distancing of this area and thus missed investment opportunities.
