The impacts of inflation on banks: Balance sheet-driven analysis

Inflation is reflected in the economy and the management of all businesses. Also on banks: affecting – in particular, but not only – the various activities carried out by the banking company: being a credit intermediary, providing services, participating in financial markets trading. A detailed analysis of the impacts of inflation can only be carried out on a bank-by-bank basis. Starting from the balance sheet and the income statement and considering the strategies and management policies that can be implemented. On the other hand, analyses based on clusters of banks do not appear significant, nor can valid indications derive from research limited only to the bank's securities portfolio.
