On 18 April 2023, the European Commission published its proposal to revisit the crisis management and deposit insurance (Cmdi) framework. Involved is a complex package of reform of existing legislation consisting in Directive 2014/59/Eu for recovery and resolution of credit institutions and investment firms, Directive 2014/49/Eu on Deposit Guarantee Schemes and Regulation (Eu) 2014/806 for a Single Resolution Mechanism (Srmr). The Reform is complex and requires close scrutiny. To achieve a necessary precision, the many aspects must be read in approximation to each other given the numerous interlinkings between the various regulatory prescriptions. This paper provides a critical analysis of the proposals for revision of the regulatory framework for the management of bank crises and the potential consequences for the activities of Dgs.
