Facing the consequences of the rapid ageing of the population is a challenge that requires a new look at the concept and actors of well-being. Until now, we have thought and acted on the basis of an idea of well-being that is no longer sustainable today. Compared to the past, the picture of available resources has changed, not only economic (a poorer welfare) but also human (a population in demographic decline), especially in the most productive age group, that of young people. We observe the theme of the sustainability of demographic imbalances «from below»: partly reversing the common perspective, we emphasize the living conditions and the role that the younger generations have – or can have – in responding to the challenges of aging.
