Tighter control, some form of extraordinary administration and supply of liquidity from the Fed to the Svb could have prevented a failure that could provoke an international crisis. The mistakes of 2008 were not to be repeated, yet the Us Financial framework remained weak and the Supervisory system baroque. The Svb crisis also confirms the need of a strong connection at the Central Bank between restrictive monetary policy and supervisory action, in order to prevent the fight against inflation from degenerating into instability in the banking sector.
