This contribution critically analyses the effects of neuromodulation on financial decision-making processes, investigated by means of the Iowa Gambling Task, one of the most frequently used experimental tasks. This task is particularly relevant because it involves both the cognitive and affective components of financial choices. A review of the literature on the subject shows that specific regions of the prefrontal cortex support the abilities involved in decision making, promoting advantageous choices. Implications in the domain of financial decisions are outlined.
