Universities and innovation in finance: the experience of the Naples FinTech Lab

The financial sector has undergone a profound transformation since 2008, driven by innovation and the growth of FinTech. In response, intermediaries have adopted open innovation strategies, involving startups, Universities and Research centers. This article analyzes the experience of the Naples FinTech Lab, a laboratory that has experimented an edu-innovation model, integrating training, research and collaborative development between academia and industry. Through this case study, the aim was to explore critical issues and opportunities in collaboration between universities and financial intermediaries, with particular attention to the dynamics of technology transfer and new cultural and organizational challenges.
