In the face of undeniable progress in Italy compared to the situation prior to Law 120/2011, the heterogeneity of women’s participation in corporate boards and decision-making of companies remains, depending on the existence and nature of the regulatory constraints on gender quotas. A wider participation of women in decision-making processes, moreover, is one of the objectives of the European Commission’s Strategy on Gender Equality 2020-2025. Within this framework, it is hoped that the analysis presented here will be the starting point for a broader path, through which the issue of gender equality in Italian corporations can be further deepened and investigated and appropriate solutions found.
