Graphs are commonly used in economic and financial communication to facilitate the understanding of data, but individuals often encounter difficulties in interpreting them. This research proposes a tool to measure financial graph literacy (Fgl) and analyzes the relationship between Fgl and financial behavior. The econometric analysis (n = 533) shows that higher Fgl is associated to more active financial behavior. Results provide important information to academics, financial operators, and marketing managers on the importance of the communication format for financial consumers' choices and support policymakers and authorities to identify the most vulnerable subjects.
