The Business Model Analysis of the european Srep, the increasing competition in banking sector and the growing importante of strategic risk lead banks to strenghten the strategic evaluation processes. This article provides conceptual frameworks, guidelines and operational tools to achieve this objective. Three different strategic evaluation processes are identified and described, depending on the area of analysis: the business model, the strategy and the strategic planning system. The evaluation processes must be carefully designed and organised; they should be kept separated from planning processes; independent control functions have a very important role to play.
